The Secret of True Happiness and Ways to Achieve It

Money is awesome. Money is freedom. When you learn how to make money and how to get things on your own, the world provides a whole new array of openings and opportunities to you. That being said, not everyone with money is even happy. So why is that? How is it that people who appear to have so much can still be completely dissatisfied with their life? It’s because true happiness takes a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice to achieve, as does money, but these two entities are not co-dependent of each other and therefore sometimes require different levels of personal input to achieve. The most ideal scenario is that you find something that makes you happy AND makes you money. So how do we go about doing either of these?

Happiness is an amazing feeling, but unfortunately most of us can only seem to experience this feeling at fleeting moments in time. The rest of the time, who knows what some people are feeling. Anxiety, depression, uncertainty you name it. No matter how strong and stable someone may appear on the outside, it is inevitable that we all struggle with our own mental barriers to happiness.

The necessary steps to achieving true happiness are not really a “secret.” They’re more so just tucked away deep down in the depths of our minds. It calls on such substantial will-power to bring to light and activate these steps, that are minds are so easily carried away with the craziness of life causing us to forget to implement them. So here’s a friendly reminder, and a few strategies that may even be new to many of you, that can be implemented today to immediately embark on the path of achieving true happiness.

A Sense of Purpose, Fulfillment & Direction

The number one way I’ve noticed that brings me immediate happiness is when I have a combination of a sense of purpose, fulfillment and direction in my life. If you don’t know why you’re doing what you’re doing every day, you will inevitably become caught up in the monotonous motions and your mind will begin to operate on autopilot mode.

What are you working towards? Why are you working towards it? Actually, why should you be working for anything at all? It’s very simple. Action is the quickest solution to dealing with uncertainty. If you’re someone who’s incredibly indecisive and can never seem to make a decision and run with it, just do it. You may not get the result you were looking for, but if you do nothing one thing is for certain: you will go nowhere different and remain right where you are in life. It is not an option that you find your why and you spend your life working to fulfill this sense of purpose.

Planning and Consistency

Without proper planning and consistency in your actions, you’re destined to remaining stuck on the treadmill of life and will undoubtedly go nowhere fast. Whether you’re building a business, working to advance in your career or whatever your objective may be, build a road map for success.

Determine your definition of success. I’ve recently started reading Dean Graziosi’s book Millionaire Success Habits and was informed of this amazing strategy for achieving happiness and fulfillment moving forward in your life. Look forward into the future and think to yourself, if I were to have the greatest and happiest year of my life, what would that year look like? How much money would I be making? What’s my daily routine look like?

Figure out what exactly it is that will bring you happiness. Then, consistently utilize the strategies that will bring you closer to achieving your goal every single day.

Suffocate Distractions and Align Your Focus

Some people constantly do things that they know are bad for them, and that they know they should not be doing, then they wonder why they’re not happy. Sound like you? If so, don’t feel too bad because there is a huge group of people out there who are stuck in the same exact toxic cycle.

Anything that impedes your forward progression towards reaching your goals can be defined as a distraction. Now, we all need some good distractions in life in order to avoid going crazy and for those who crave a proper “work-life balance.” But it is important to not let these distractions become so evident that they begin to define you. Identify the most common distractions in your life and ask yourself how positive or detrimental they really are to your personal well-being and your goals. It’s not until you face your distractions head on, can you begin to identify and eliminate them from your life.

Without the Lows, There Would be No Highs

Finally, it’s important to understand that no one can ever feel happy all day every day. It’s just not even feasible. There will be times when you feel down, you will make mistakes and there will be times when you question everything you’ve ever done up to this point. The most important thing is that you come to terms with this and actually use the lows as fuel to propel you back to the highs of happiness!

When you’re feeling down, it doesn’t take any energy to be depressed. That’s easy. Anyone can do this. The secret to never allowing yourself to stay down is your acknowledgement and acceptance of the fact that these down moments have not come to stay, they have come to pass! Start to look at everything in your life as a test. Every mental barrier you face is just an obstacle put in place to challenge you and allow you to come out stronger when you make it to the other side.

Stay positive. Next time you’re feeling down in any sort of way, note it and take it on head first as a challenge. Continue to do what you know is right and that will consistently bring you happiness in the future, and do not cave in to the temptation of staying down forever. The secret to achieving happiness is all within you.
